my fave salty response to this so far is the one calling me a communist (wrong leftist affiliation bro!) and asserting that telling someone their opinion is bad is fascism

ok, because there are a lot of people going 'but my taxes!' in my mentions: y'all. first off, who do you think gets SNAP? oh, that's right: low-wage workers. fixed-income seniors & folks with disabilities.

i don't even personally agree with this, but SNAP benefits are limited for people on unemployment. and unemployment, by the way, is taxable income.

you have a say in what you, say, bring to a food bank. (how many of y'all have ever brought processed foods to a food drive? because they have a long shelf life?)

the problem isn't with SNAP beneficiaries and what they're choosing. (also, the idea that you have to subsist on a limited diet and never get any pleasure from food when you're low-income is grim and inhumane.)

the problem is with economic and food policy in this country, with companies who don't pay their workers a living wage, with food deserts, with food manufacturing. it's the system, not the end users.
