Very cold last night, trickle charged over 110V at the B&B (painfully slow) Battery preconditioning definitely tied to climate control. Model 3 owners in colder climates take note: preheat is your friend for comfort, regen and decent rangepic.twitter.com/ra01IYRTjk

Oh, so the picture of the battery is not a button to turn on only battery preconditioning

The icon appears when the battery is really cold and you turn on cabin heat in the app

I see your "very cold" and raise you a -23C/-32C. Curious if anyone can beat this morning. #WinterWeatherPokerpic.twitter.com/3TnN0xY7ZM

An Ice car would need a 750 watt block heater plus a 750 watt interior warmer to do the same thing so pretty much even.

110V, huh? Suggest to the B&B that they should ask Tesla to install some destination chargers for free. I have heard that, in extreme cold, preheating pulls more energy than mere 110V can provide, thus reducing range slightly. Was that true for you?

Plz clarify “battery preconditioning”. Like ‘breaking in’ the battery? “If you want ___, you should ___”. Thx

A battery charges more slowly in extreme cold?

How does this affect your charging schedule? Should we now set the battery to charge an hour earlier in during the night so the final hour can be used for battery preconditioning? Will this harm the battery in anyway?

I’ve been turning on the climate control about an hour before we have to leave five or take. I generally leave the car plugged in when not in use at home so charging is done whenever I wish. 1/1
