Enjoyed Galen Strawson's review of Galileo’s Error by. I probably should've mentioned Whitehead, but I stick by my definition of 'materialism'.

Are There Islands of Awareness? And when would they instantiate a phenomenal self-model, creating the capacity for suffering? Externalism is dead and new ethical issues arise.

Excited to share our latest preprint - my group's first qualitative research - 'Phantom Kicks': 39% of respondents had subjective experiences of foetal kicks in the postpartum period. Phantom kicks were present for many years postpartum (avg 6, max 30yrs)

Now out in : a tutorial in Bayesian decision models of behavior, with worked problems. Kudos to Neuron for being ok with this unconventional format. The tutorial is a preview of the textbook I am writing with and Dan Goldreich.

How are hierarchical recurrent computations implemented in the brain? Work from shows that specific cell types (L5 & L6 cells, not L23 cells) participate in excitatory feedback loops. Constraints for neural architectures of predictive coding.

Karl Friston agrees that The FEP is not falsifiable and thus not a theory. Jeff Beck concedes that what he calls the Free Energy Framework (and a “language”) is useful.
