Also they can withhold funding for the government in a few weeks if certain conditions are not met! They have leverage they can use, but have not exercised.

Not true. They hold hearings, make people testify publicly, pass laws to address our problems, and go through courses of action that used to get results in saner times. They are only the House, after all. But they are too reticent to use the heavier tools available, like contempt
