    The only thing that’s out of the ordinary about the Kabul strike is that there was an investigation. That’s rare, in my experience. Many cases the US doesn’t even acknowledge responsibility for the strike never mind the casualties.

    I wonder how often this sort of mistake killed people down on the Af-Pak border, far from the media spotlight

    we don't have to do this. we can imagine a better world, a world in which giant mirrors create more sunlight like in that really bad Bond movie. a world without any attendant consequences from that.

    Sources tell that paid family leave has been dropped entirely from the reconciliation bill because Senator Manchin opposed it. This is a huge blow to progressives and President Biden who were vocally supportive of having it in the bill.
