No, systems that work less well are enticing because they are morally superior in the dominant ethical framework. For capitalism to succeed, people need to believe that it is good. And they do not.

"Capitalism...is an emergent system.", so true. PROOF - if a ship-wreck occurred and 100 people ended up stranded on a deserted island for years - Capitalism would be what naturally emerges (no matter what system the stranded folks came from). I fish, she hunts, we all trade.
