    Gearing up for the matchmaking phase of the Food Systems Game Changers Lab! We are a part of Cohort 1: Empowering Women and Youth, and we have come up with a solution set that is so exciting. Soon we will meet with potential scaling partners and donors to discuss implementing it.

    Through this partnership, we deployed 50 SoyaKits to women (both adult and young) in Western Kenya this summer. We were then able to provide affordable nutritious soymilk to low income communities and economic empowerment of women and youth through improved processing of locally

    Here we see our women entrepreneurs in Bondo, Kenya using the traditional 3-stone open-fire cooking method to make soymilk. In Western Kenya, local processing and consumption of soy is low. We have the chance to change that through our partnership with IFDC, 2SCALE and FASUD.

    Our partnership with Ace Africa helps women like Hamida create their own micro enterprises. The entrepreneurs earn a steady income, and soy foods are less expensive and better for the environment than animal products (and have just as much nutrition). It’s a win-win-win!

    This is Hamida, a entrepreneur in Bungoma, Kenya. Here we see her grinding soybeans to make soy milk which she will then sell to her community. She is able to make a profit, and her community now has access to affordable nutritious food!
