Lots of places are closing outdoor spaces, which seems terrible for mental health and fitness, and not obviously helpful for COVID blocking. I was all for cancelling large parades (St P's) where people stay in close proximity for hours outdoors, then have house parties etc.

At least in NYC the issue seems to be people are congregating in groups in park in the way they usually do. They're trying to figure out a way at scale to get people to use the parks but with social distancing.

2/ I at least would find it helpful (and I'm sure others would) if you'd expand on the rules and approach you use going on walks, runs, etc. People get the generally idea of keep a safe distance from other people. But non-experts are really starved for info on specifics.

Yeah because people can’t follow the rules! Many parks had large groups playing on playground equipment and congregating. If everyone just followed the rules we could go back to normal.

Every bit of this. I wanted to throw rocks at the 'outdoor yoga' group at the park that finished and were all hugging each other goodbye. Meanwhile, I'm walking down the yellow line in the middle of the street.

Yesterday in Washington state was absurd. Spring day, sunny. All state parks and trails absolutely packed with people

hey marc, sincere question - given the virus can survive in the air for up to 3 hours is it actually safe to go on a run outside in NYC/Brooklyn?
-
And follow-up, does the wind help disperse it?

China had closed their parks though. They are only open now that things are under control
