This is happening bc of SCOTUS decision finding a NY law unconstitutional- that law like CA’s, required concealed carry applicants to show “good cause” for needing a concealed firearm. Now, sheriffs have less discretion cities like SF have approved licenses for 1st time in years

The breadth of those sensitive places is sure to be a sticking point for some. The new bill also limits any CCW licensee from carrying more than 2 guns at once

Bill will require more training, licensees to be age 21, and creates “sensitive areas” where concealed weapons are banned including schools, sporting events and ANYWHERE alcohol is sold

I've seen some tweets claiming that property crime in S.F. has spiked under DA Brooke Jenkins. As I've written before, DAs really don't seem to have major effects on crime prevalence — I said this when people dunked on Boudin, and it's only fair to point it out for Jenkins too.

Alleged Half Moon Bay shooter Chunli Zhao didn’t enter a plea at his first hearing today - and was denied bail. He will be back in court Feb 16 for an arraignment. DA Steve Wagstaffe charged him with 7 counts of murder; says he won’t make decision on death penalty yet

I followed on a sort of poverty tour from Antioch to Fresno and LA. Everywhere, the stories were the same: living in poverty is exhausting and the safety net is a tricky game in which a misstep can mean homelessness in an instant.
