The US government is weighing a policy that would make the results of US government funded research immediately freely available to everyone. But it's facing fierce opposition. Show your support for by adding your name to this open letter.

Patients and scientists: THIS IS NOT A DRILL. The White House is considering requiring open access to all taxpayer-funded research. Please sign to let The White House know that you strongly support this transformational initiative:

Genuinely cannot believe how basic VC Twitter is. All day long, VC bros explaining to each other in tiny words how money and markets work. It's like Fischer Price Wall Street. The lack of sophistication is incredibly weird.

The BLAKE3 cryptographic hash functions is quite a bit (~10x) faster than SHA-2, nice. Good work 👏. Should be a noticeable improvement if we use it in . Try it yourself:

Your daily reminder that still hasn't reversed its ridiculous position that sets it in opposition to all its members (both academic and industrial, because — as ACM keeps telling me — *everyone* wants to read papers and gain knowledge).

Please don't bother with a brief explanation. Retract your signature with a brief explanation that scientists do not support the letter. Commit to universal open access. If cannot sustain itself in an open access world, then the ACM is a cancer in need of cure.

This is a disgraceful betrayal of science and the public good by scientific societies. They do not speak for science. They do not speak for scientists. A pox on all their paywalled houses.

Building the Sauspiel game servers in Erlang was one of the best tech decisions we ever made. Same for choosing Clojure for . But both were no initial decisions, it took some time and learnings to find the right tool for the job.
