Me: (literally talking to the compiler) “Hah! Did you see how I solved that unpinned future type issue you thought you were going to complain about? Box::pin’ed it before you could tell me otherwise!” The compiler: “ “ so sad...but so so fun 😂

Although I won’t be working with in my day job any time soon, I am slightly addicted to the game where you try to prove the borrower checker that you know what you are doing on the first try 😂 I seriously get a rush from it 🤷‍♂️😆....

So excited to have released my first crate this morning! The goal of the crate was to add additional functionality to the async BufReader implementation provided by the async-std lib . Here it is! crate: github:

Maybe can help? I just need a little bit of a more complex example than in the docs.

I’ve looked at how map, filter, etc is implemented under the hood but seems super complex, I want to make sure I’m doing this right

Day 1 Part 2 (same repo - refactored to demonstrate reusability with closures as args in async fns):

Found a little more time before work today to finish Day 1 Part 2 of in using async. My goal is to try a new feature of Rust on each puzzle that I haven't tried - a new crate or control flow/architectural pattern. fn / closure as argument in an async fn...

Oh and the postfix .await is 🔥🔥🔥I was a little skeptical at first but it plays very well into the rest of the syntax!

Here's 2019 day 1 part 1 in Rust with async file loading and async BufReader: I'm still getting used to specific types for error handling and the best way to architect, but I'm hoping the Failure crate will help me out in the future.

I was super excited to get into async but hadn't found time to dedicate to exploring. I figured that would be a perfect area to try it out....and I love it! I'd be super grateful if any Rust experts would provide feedback for my methodology ...

The one day I need to read your docs 😑

My day: walk the dogs, solder some smd components on my IoT project, avoid getting electrocuted, guys night, drink quality beers, chug mediocre beers, each solid Mexican food, jam the fuck out on accoustic guitars, call it a night. For the win. Need more Saturday’s like this.

Well, I finally bit the bullet and plugged my IoT prototype product I’ve been building/soldering/programming into an outlet and it didn’t fry this time 😬time for a plum martini to celebrate🍸

The Animated library (which is forked and used under the hood of React-spring) still allows the fine-grain control I need for more complex “timeline” animations.

Unpopular opinion: although the library react-spring is excellent for simple animations, and transitions, as soon as I’m coordinating multiple elements’ animations along multiple differing delayed times, with overlapping movements, the library seems to get in the way. 😐

That feeling when you finally finish integrating in your production setup with multiple apps streaming and consuming events on multiple instances, and everything is running soothingly. And you even wrote tests around it. That's a good day. 👌

Some days I'm in a purely functional mood...so that must mean other days I must not function 😐. Today is definitely a functional one.

That feeling at the end of a long day of severe error alerts when you finally reach silence, all because of a 3rd party service you integrated with changed their API request endpoint method...but only one engineer on your team was notified and they forgot to tell you 🤦‍♂️
