Yep. Mitch McConnell, stanch defender of bipartisanship and maintaining norms, would never have killed it on his own. Supreme Court Justice Merrick Garland is proof of what a fair dealer McConnell is.

Your assumption is that McConnell wouldn't have gone Nuclear. It's not like he blocked a SCOTUS seat, or did away with a century-old 'Blue Slip' understanding. You are attributing a sense of decorum to people that have repeatedly proven that they are craven opportunists; Why?
-
More than that, McConnell *literally also went nuclear to abolish the filibuster on SCOTUS appointments as soon as he had a Republican nominee to confirm*.

Maybe find another culprit besides "the Democrats" for everything. Maybe look in the mirror for why we're here now, CNN dude.

This is how the GOP play mainstream media into playing up their talking points. The people who smoked the SCOTUS filibuster, Blue slip, and every other senate rule, would've definitively stuck to 60 vote for cabinet... Yeah, sure!

Oh yes, this is definitely a Most True And Accurate Tweet. Certainly McConnell, who was in no way responsible for the sandbagging during Obama's Admin, and who absolutely did not act in bad faith to get a Supreme Court Justice, would surely respect Senate norms and rules.
-
This is simply a case of both sides being at fault. Please convene a panel to discuss how, if only the Dems were reasonable, really this all could have been avoided.

Stop using nuclear option to name a congressional process. It's degrading to all the nuclear options. Also if the world stop spinning neither Pompeo not Haspel would have been confirmed. You are a journalist, right?

"IF" Trump had not won, and the Russian collusion and compromise with the entire GOP been exposed earlier, a great many things would be different.
-
Lol that Russian collusion sure is evasive
