Ryan backs Nunes in fight with Justice, saying request is appropriate and that Justice will answer accordingly. He said he spoke to Rosenstein and Nunes/Gowdy about it. He downplayed DOJ concerns when I asked him about Justice warning that disclosure could risk human lives.

“These guys work for us,” Rep. Stewart says in demanding info from DOJ. McCarthy says there’s no reason for Nunes not to get classified intel. Latest here in GOP falling in line behind Nunes.https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/10/politics/devin-nunes-ryan-justice-department/index.html …

Actually, Rep. Stewart, DOJ doesn't work for you. DOJ is part of the executive branch. You're part of the legislative branch. An elementary school student would likely have a better understanding of how our government works.

Exactly! The current administration in the White House doesn't even seem to be aware of that fact. And far too many people in Congress seem to have forgotten that.

Isn't Congressional oversight meant to be a check, after an investigation has been finalized? Not to mingle themselves into an active investigation and thus jeopardizing the investigation itself? I know @DevinNunes and @SpeakerRyan would like the investigation shut. Angst!

Congressional oversight is meant to be a check on the executive branch, yes. But they aren't supposed to interfere with actual investigations. They can conduct their own investigations as well. What Nunes is doing isn't oversight, though. It feels and looks more like obstruction.

Sorry about that! haha I suspected it might have been but I didn't think it would hurt to actually answer it either. 😉

Now would be a good time for us to know if Nunes (a member of Trump’s transition team) has been caught up in the Mueller investigation.

LMAO. Just so everyone is clear, no, they don't work for Congress. By definition, they work for the Executive Branch. Co-equal means co-equal. What a monumentally stupid thing to say.

Bolton was doing a LOT of outreach with the NRA in Russia. Suddenly they had loads of dough to give to the GOP. This is corruption to the core and they need to prove they are not dirty sellouts of our democracy.
