McConnell wouldn’t say what gives him that confidence when asked repeatedly

This is like saying you don’t need car insurance because you don’t plan on getting in any accidents

Maybe I should be senate majority leader because I’ve definitely seen cause to protect mueller and I’m a just a dude on twitter.

In other words, he doesn't care if Trump fires Meuller.

But, if it DOES happen it will happen quickly and wouldn’t it then be too late to pass something to prevent it from happening? Is this GOP bullshit logic?

I'd rather feel safe than go to sleep at night counting on what Mitch McConnell may or may not think.

I think we all know how this will play out: 1) "there's no indication that we need to do anything" 2) Trump fires Rosenstein and Mueller 3) "it's too late to do anything now that it's already happened"
-
I'm not completely sure it's a hundred percent you could research it but I've seen a couple of places where people indicate that Mueller filed a special motion that gives authority to everyone that is working on this case to continue their work in the event that Mueller is fired
-
The FBI will continue to investigate without Mueller, but it's unlikely it would stay with the team he's assembled. Removing the Special Counsel also introduces more avenues for political interference.

Can you ask him what would be an adequate indication in his view?

Does he follow the news? Maybe he could put an aide on keeping up with what the president says.

What’s the harm in passing something anyway??

Look. Just say it. This is his strategy. Run out the clock and it's too late for anyone to do anything. See, e.g., Merrick Garland.
