Mike Conaway, the R running the House Russia probe, acknowledged that Russians were trying to “hurt” Clinton in 2016. Just asked him what’s the difference between hurting Clinton and helping Trump, and he said: “Glass half full, glass half empty; you can pitch that either way”

Conaway said the concern GOP had was with the CIA’s “analytical tradecraft” and agency did not use the right standards to conclude that Putin was trying to help Trump. He said it’s “irrelevant” that Mueller’s indictment of Russians contends that they were trying to help Trump

GOP on HPSCI now appears to be drawing distinction between Russians trying to hurt Clinton to sow discord in the US elections vs. explicitly trying to help Trump in 2016

Conaway says no question Russians sought to hurt Clinton, but says it's open to interpretation on whether that means help Trump. His real issue, he says, is with how the CIA used analytical standards to base its conclusion that Putin wanted Trump to win.http://snpy.tv/2IpjFVA

The flaw with that argument is that Russians also targeted Cruz and Rubio supporters. They weren’t trying to undermine Rubio and Cruz to hurt Clinton—they did that to help Trump.

BJs are a lil different than election meddling and trying to clear the President of any criminal misdoings prematurely while trying to implicate his opponent.

Or further; to hurt a political candidate, is to hurt the democratic process. Ergo he is in agreement that a foreign state (Russia) made moves against US democracy. With zero consequence.
