WH continues to sidestep questions about Stormy Daniels' allegations, hush money payment, whether Trump was aware. Sarah Sanders this AM to reporters about lawyer's comments: “We’ve addressed our feelings on that situation, and I don’t have anything else to add."

If that's the case it's a violation of federal campaign finance law. A serious one with a serious sentence. The same law that brought down John Edwards. Chalk this one up with obstruction as among the strongest cases--we know of at the moment--against Trump.
-
Pardon my ignorance, but why is it a violation? If it isn't from campaign funds, what ties a payment like this into the campaign? I legitimately do not understand how this works. I am not questioning the validity of your statement.
-
If the purpose of the payment was to have an effect on the campaign, to achieve a campaign goal (in this case, protecting a candidate's "reputation") then the funds have to be declared/regulated as campaign funds. If they are not, if they are hidden, not declared, a violation.
-
Thank you:) That makes perfect sense.

Here is an article about John Edwards when he was in a similar situation. “Prosecutors say that they were campaign contributions because they were meant to prevent Edwards’s 2008 presidential bid from collapsing if the affair was discovered.”https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/john-edwards-indictment-expected-today/2011/06/03/AGQwEuHH_story.html?utm_term=.506b5fc9f1a8 …

Thank you. I understand the campaign contributions angle now. It's actually quite obvious now that it's been explained
. What's good for the Edwards, is good for the Trump. - 1 more reply

Always asking people to donate to his campaign. Little did they know it was to pay off porn stars.
-
He ABSOLUTELY LOVES using other people’s money!
-
He’s been using ours to play golf for the past 14 months.
@reslDonaldTrump -
Including paying a lot of that tax$ straight back to himself, for instance to rent
#golfcarts to#SecretService. -
The fact that Trump doesn’t have the grace to waive the golf cart fees for the men & women placing themselves between Trump and danger is especially galling. Essentially charging the US taxpayer for something he should be grateful to donate.
-
I don’t think the law would allow that as a donation/gift, either. But they could have made some arrangement to buy those carts outright, by installments, so that continued payments to T aren’t necessary.
-
FYI, fancy new carts run ~$10k, used ~$5k. That reported $100k+ amount spent thus far could buy a fleet of them. Enough to keep a few at every course he plays. But I suppose then he would gouge the SS for parking costs.

FYI, although lawyers are generally immune from defamation lawsuits for statements made in court, there is no such protection for statements made on TV. This is quite the gauntlet thrown.
-
Oh please, hasn't Trump threatened about 20 people with defamation lawsuits at this point and hasn't followed through on any of them?
-
Indeed, that's my point. If some lawyer got on TV and said this about me, I'd immediately sue him. Unless it was true.
-
“Unless it was true” Surely you jest...his client has considerably more credibility than Trump. And a suit would be totally disastrous politically. I cringe to imagine the discovery

"I cringe to imagine the discovery..." Indeed, good sir. Indeed. Lord only knows the mass grave of skeletons that would come pouring out...pic.twitter.com/rTNZkWBJTF

Would look like the big finish in "Poltergeist."
