While I agree, the investigation i care most about is Meuller’s. As long as Bannon told them everything, I’m good with it.

And I agree with that point as well. On the other hand, what’s to stop scumbag
@DevinNunes from running back to DonTheCon with anything Steve-o says. I’d rather he not tip his hand.

If they don’t hold him in contempt, why would anyone ever answers any questions in front of any committee ?

Will be very surprised if Ryan votes to compel anyone to testify.
-
We’re past that. The procedure to invoke privilege is WH counsel issues a letter to Congressional committee. Bannon stating Trump told him doesn’t meet that standard. This is not a debate, he’s in contempt & should be detained.
-
It will take them detaining someone before this crew starts to take the judicial system seriously. Let them wear orange and eat jail food. It will be motivating for them to seek a deal when they hear those bars clang shut behind them.
-
Unfortunately, Congress has no power to detain. If they want to hold someone in Contempt of Congress, they send a recommendation to the US Attorney for DC, who then decides whether or not to file contempt charges. Current US Attorney for DC is a Trump appointee. No chance.
-
I'd always presumed it was a given. Congress makes the pleading & it is done. We're in dangerous times if that isn't the case.
-
Yes. I, too, was disappointed to learn how it actually works. Congress makes laws, DOJ enforces them. So while Congress can request someone be held in contempt, it's DOJ that makes the call. Rigged system, because DOJ will ALWAYS be POTUS appointees in any administration.
-
Let’s be candid, the notion that DoJ is a bespoke arm of a President is a thing Trump pioneered. This integration has never happened before. GOP didn’t humor even Nixon this way in the dark moments.

If I understand correctly, the WH has to officially invoke executive privilege prior to questioning. So suggesting "WH said so" wouldn't cut it. Not to mention the time period itself shouldn't be allowable to invoke it. That won't work with Mr. Mueller.https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/964205405906849792 …

Instructed doesn’t meet the standard. WH would have to issue a letter to the House Committee invoking privilege & the defined scope. Does the Conaway have that letter from McGahn? I’ll wait.
