        He is standing for party over country. Like Gen Kelly, he sacrifices any good will earned by service to country for a political party. Since Congress could never investigate without making it political, it is imperative that Mueller be allowed to investigate unfettered.

        Hurd is from the Texas 23rd, which is on the border with Mexico. He won re-election in 2016 (but was the first incumbent to do so in almost a decade, it's an infamously short-tempered district as far as who their representatives get to be).

        Extremely. His election in Nov 2016 was, by far, the closest Congressional race in Texas. He got 48%, Dem 47&, rest went Libertarian.
