What does this have to do with anything other than giving the administration power to hold up spending for the Mueller investigation. Are there no limits to the administration's obstruction and the GOP's capitulation?

Standing up Erik Prince's mercenaries.
-
That’s plausible, although I think the IC leadership would have an aneurysm over this.
-
IF they know about it, yes, I agree. But my understanding is that the wording allows for $ transfers w/no Congressional oversight: essentially a way 2 fund secret/black operations.https://m.dailykos.com/stories/2018/1/18/1733772/-Trump-s-Secret-Police …
-
Fucked up. This would be akin to the Gestapo.
-
Lol. The analogy I have heard is that ICE is the Gestapo, and Erik Prince's outfit would be the SS. Although I think the distinctions aren't all that important, since their goals are what concern me
-
Gestapo described as 'secret police' trying to quash all Nazi resistance. I think that term better applies. But you're right, the distinctions don't matter, it's the creeping authoritarianism that does.

Did I tack this on to this thread? Losing track of what I've put where, so my apologies if I'm repeating myself.https://twitter.com/mog7546/status/955550879763107842 …

Just had a thought... If they "pulled a fast one" on this...what motivation does The Turtle have to keep his word? Very, very disappointed in their actions today.
-
isn't it only in the cr? can it be taken out later??

Who exactly added this language re Senate Intelligence $$ and why? Mulvaney did this for Trump? Um, is anyone reporting this? WTF?
@jaketapper@JoyAnnReid@maddow@funder@SethAbramson@CNN@MSNBC@Lawrence@MarkWarner@SenateDems -
Still want to know how this language was put into the CR by the White House. Where is the detail on this to be found? Perhaps the friendly blogger could help us out on this some? Seriously asking. No snark intended. This seems wrong.
-
@maddow . This sounds like a big deal to me. Sounds like they might have to ask the WH for funding thereby releasing info on what they are investigating. - 1 more reply

This is especially concerning when tied to reports from last year that Trump met with Erik Prince to discuss an independent intelligence agency, just for him.https://www.cnn.com/2017/12/05/politics/erik-prince-private-spy-network-trump-administration/index.html …

Yup..but, read this article from FP. It’s a jaw clencher... ‘Financier Is Top Choice to Advise President on Intelligence Matters’ http://foreignpolicy.com/2018/01/22/financier-is-top-choice-to-advise-president-on-intelligence-matters …pic.twitter.com/7kujPF2mfl
