Fusion GPS lawyer says the "partisan" hearing is a "pretext" to "cast doubt on ongoing inquiries" of Trump-Russia collusion

Can someone explain this to me like I'm 3? Maybe it's because it's Friday but this makes 0 sense to me
-
Is he saying he doesn't want to disrupt the investigation? Like he supports it?
-
I think I get it now. Lawyer doesn't want the hearing because they see it as an effort to discredit Democrats and the Russia investigation.

Has
@AdamSchiffCA decried this "obstruction" and "cover up"? Tonight, will@CNNPolitics cite this as proof of his guilt? -
I dunno, usually when someone pleads the 5th, they got some stuff they are trying to hide. I googled that so it's true ok.

The purpose of the fifth amendment rights are to protect individuals from self incrimination. To invoke it, there's a risk of incrimination.

Am I the only one who is straight up confused about Sen Grassly? Does he want to investigate
#TrumpRussia or not? He goes back & forth
-
Playing both sides of the fence. The worst type of traitor.

So why plead the 5th if this is all about "partisan attacks"?
-
GOP/Russia talking points. FUSION GPS repped Christ Steele dossier and Trump claims they also repped the Russian adoption lawyer. Dirty trik
-
Thank you! Keeping this all straight is becoming quite difficult
