This is evident this morning in the hearing for Biden's Transportation nominee, Pete Buttigieg, who is being questioned by the Senate Commerce. Sen. Roger Wicker, the Republican from Mississippi, is chairing the hearing, and Sen. Maria Cantwell is serving as ranking member.

Judging from this hearing, I don't think the Republicans are asking any tough questions so bumpy is a big stretch

Buttigieg isn't a real controversial nominee, and transportation isn't a post that usually draws a lot of fire. Treasury isn't likely to go as well, for example.
