Senate Judiciary has hired an outside counsel to question Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh. The individual is a woman with expertise in sex crimes prosecution, aides say. Grassley says he won’t disclose the identity of the individual out of concern for her safety

Although the sticking points don't seem to be a roadblock that will force a delay of the hearing, there is fierce negotiating going on between lawyers for Christine Blasey Ford ... and the Republican staff on the Senate Judiciary Committee.https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/25/politics/ford-kavanaugh-hearing-counsel-hired-republicans/index.html …

McConnell: “We have hired a female assistant to go on staff and to ask these questions in a respectful and professional way. We want this hearing to be handled very professionally, not a political sideshow like you put on by the Democrats when they were questioning” Kavanaugh

Dr Blasey should pull out of the hearing. They are not affording her the "fairness and respect" she requested.

No. First she’ll answer the Democrats questions. Then if the 11 cowardly male Republican senators want to hide behind a female questionner, #ChristineBlaseyFord should shame the GOP — only answer Constitutionally mandated questions from Senator s only!

“Constitutionally mandated questions”. There are zero of those. If you want to go down that road, she has no right to a hearing in Congress at all. The GOP has offered her a chance to state her allegation on the record. Why is she hesitant to do that if they are true?

Why are they not doing an FBI reopening of the background check. Standard when new info is brought forth. Why is HE not asking for the FBI investigation? If he is innocent, then he should want the accusers to speak to the FBI, as well as himself & he won’t do polygraph!

FBI background check has been done - it’s a criminal background check, and as far as the legal system is concerned, there is no crime. That might change if she filed a complaint in her state and the prosecutor filed charges, but she hasn’t done any of that. Why?

Wrong. They did a background check, not just criminal. They also can reopen, as they have countless times for countless reasons involving appointees and nominees. Stop gaslighting. It’s bullshit and everyone knows it. Get a real investigation on these allegations are drop the nom

Wait they're refusing Dr Ford's request to know who it is and meet with her, or they're just not going to publicly say who it is, but will let Dr Ford's team know?

This is an imp point, Manu. Hope you can go back and ask. If they're going to deny Dr. Ford the right to know who will be questioning her, on Thurs, then she has every right to refuse to appear.

I think Dr. Ford should refuse to answer questions from anyone who isn’t a senator on the judiciary committee just like @JillWineBanks suggested last night. Ford agreed to appear to tell her story to the committee, she didn’t agree to be examined by an outside attorney.
