Senate GOP leadership aide pushes back: “Senate Democrats have rightly said that the Senate should not bully Dr Ford - the way to depoliticize that and ensure that is with an outside counsel.”

So can the Democrats bring in outside council too for a few questions, in all fairness, someone, like Sally Yates?
-
Probably, but Klobuchar and Harris are perfectly qualified as well.
-
Funny trading this thread. No one is a bigger bully than Kamala Harris. Are you people serious with this ?

That might be fair to say if we hadn’t heard “Old WHITE men” on our TV’s for a week. You can’t race and gender bait for a week and then walk it back because you don’t want the optics of a female asking questions.

If independent counsel includes a female I think it’s a good idea (screaming about old white males hopefully kept to a minimum then). Some questions could be sensitive and imo female could be better Surprised dr ford would reject that unless she wants the optic of mean men?
-
Politically, the optics of sexist elderly white men asking the questions seems favorable to Democrats and Ford. Get them on the record. In terms of actual fact-finding, you're probably right. But we know facts are a tertiary concern here.

If the GOP want an outside counsel to interrogate Dr Christine Blasey Ford, then why don't agree to having the FBI investigate the allegations

Every day is a brand new day for Republicans to show us their rampant lawlessness and complete disregard for rule of law.

If the GOP brings in outside counsel, can we PRETTY PLEASE use the classic right-wing conspiracy-theory smear of "crisis actor" to describe those outsiders? Because that's what they'd be... merely ventriloquist's dummies for the aged white GOP men on the Committee.
-
I don't understand how "white man" turned into a pejorative given to an entire category of people. I have a white husband, sons, brothers, father, male friends, all unique people. Reducing people to the color of their skin/gender used to be considered prejudice and bigotry.

This was just to have someone else do the dirty job. Now, if they take the same approach as they did with Anita Hill, the whole country will be witness to their true character
-
What is the "dirty job," Poetic bot? Asking questions?
-
Many ways to ask questions. Some are designed to insinuate things and demean the victim. Go watch the Anita Hill hearings.
-
Let me remind you that our system requires proof of a crime before we call someone a criminal. This is especially true when there is NO physical evidence. There is no "victim." There is only an accuser. Clarence Thomas was NEVER proven to have harassed Anita Hill.

They want outside counsel to do their bullying for them, and avoid the tape loops of them questioning her.
-
They are trying to de-politicize this. Can you imagine Dems questions? Each one will be telling her how brave she is, then a speech about how horrible all Reps are and how great they are for all women. It will be useless. Outside counsel is the way to go.
