Stay with me on this, but maybe try nominating...non-idealogues. I know, crazy thought, but maybe don't nominate the poster-child for the conservative judicial machine if you don't want liberals to oppose him. If only someone like Merrick Garland could get nominated...

No one can agree on who is non ideological. In my view Garland was very liberal.
-
Where are you getting the idea that Garland was very liberal from? "According to Mr. Cruz, Judge Garland joined 27 out of 28 opinions written by Judge Kavanaugh, while Judge Kavanaugh joined 28 out of 30 of Judge Garland’s rulings."https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/sep/5/kavanaugh-garland-voted-together-93-pct-time/ …

Name which 5-4 cases during the last SC term where he would have voted with conservatives.
-
Tough to tell, since he was denied any hearings in the Senate. Consensus after nom was he would be slightly to Kennedy's left, but he's no RBG or Sotomayor. I. E. He's not in the mold of a Gorsuch who is actually, along with Thomas, the most conservative ideologue on the court
-
He would have voted with the left in every case.
-
Maybe. Tough to argue alt histories. What IS the case is the last 9 years of R circumvention of norms has led to politicization of the Court. This will lead to a decrease in perceived legitimacy (bad). Direct result of playing political games with perfectly qualified noms
-
Right. Bork, that paragon of ethics and totally mainstream jurisprudence, is the original sin. Remind me, who got that seat in the end? Then, remind me, what was that Justice's Senate approval vote? The Bork pt has been and continues to be an incredibly thin arg.

Sen Burr flatly stated he would block ANY HRC nominee. Indefinitely. That is the future.

McConnell pulled the pin on that with Garland. Everyone knew that the "election year" excuse was just a fig leaf. The fact is, he blocked Garland because he *could.* Those are the rules now.

Well the next time it swings towards democrats they should start playing the same games to ensure that it never swings back to the GOP ever again. That party needs to wither away.

A little too “both sides” here in this tweet. There’s one person accountable for all these probs during both 44 and 45 admins: Mitchell McConnell

That's what happens when McConnell decides to trash the norms. Now trash is the norm

Someday we'll have less partisanship. I'm waiting for the Republicans to put Country over Party here. This process and the lies are embarrassing to real Americans.
-
It amazes me how leftists and enemies of liberty use the term "party over country" as if their vision of country isn't a huge deviation from American ideals and consensus.
-
1) I said Country Over Party, friend. 2) I seek balance between political ideals, but Trumplicans have taken the country too far to the right, aligning us with dictatorships and authoritarian government. Hold elected officials accountable, friend. Peace be with you.
-
You mean like Clinton giving North Korea nuclear capability or Obama's support of the Miullahs? Trump hasn't taken us far enough on the road to federal minimalism and liberty. But he sure has done better than anyone else in the last 70+ years.
-
Keep on pretending that's what Trump and the corrupt GOP-led Congress is trying to do, friend. Trump thinks we can just print more money, that's how smart he is. https://www.businessinsider.com/bob-woodward-book-trump-federal-debt-printing-money-2018-9 …http://thehill.com/policy/finance/406040-federal-deficit-soars-32-percent-to-895b …
-
I blame congress and the unwillingness to shut it down more than Trump. If he takes a stand, the demagoguery of the left will be ridiculous. And the corruption is on both sides. To not see that makes you extremely partisan. Menendez, Waters, Wasserman-Schultz? Clinton? Please.
-
No, I agree with you, both parties are corrupt and have been for a long time. But the one in power right now is not holding Trump accountable. Trump has no idea how to be president or run that office. You cannot be OK with that.
-
Style vs. Substance. Except for spending bills, he gets results; marginalizing Iran, denuclearizing the Korean peninsula, destroying ISIS, increasing my 401k, reducing my taxes, reducing regulations harmful to small business, reversing bad trade deals, decreasing minority unemp.
