Kavanaugh noted that if a president signs a bill "and says these certain provisions in here are unconstitutional, and we're not going to follow those provisions, that is a traditional exercise of power by Presidents."

Schumer: “Understanding the nature of his involvement in those actions is absolutely critical to evaluating the type of justice he would be on the bench.” But an aide who worked under Kavanaugh said staff secretary merely coordinated statements - and was not driving policy.

In a legal opinion that same year, Kavanaugh took a similar stance "If the President has a constitutional objection to a statutory mandate or prohibition, the President may decline to follow the law unless and until a final Court order dictates otherwise," Kavanaugh wrote in ‘13

It’s important to remember that Kavanaugh is raised in the Koch school of politics. He’s a die hard libertarian. He comes from the same school as Scalia. He’s is a Constitutional originalist. One, that’s impossible to do. Two, he wants things to be like the 1780s! Do you? #Resist

Imagine Trump being allowed by SCOTUS to “ignore laws”. More than is already the case that is. The mind boggles. #nokavanaugh

I saw it coming but honestly never dreamed it would literally happen to this degree so quickly. It is beyond mind-boggling. It is horrifying.

Seems to me that kind of thinking leads to inconsistencies from one administration to the next, based on the whims of the current president. It is stupid and dangerous. Also tells me that Kavanaugh must be an idiot, which is undoubtedly why the Trump administration loves him.

@SenBobCorker So this doesn't concern you at all about #Kavanaugh? This is not how I understand how our democracy is supposed to work. Maybe you need to do more than just talk to him & instead investigate his positions, policies & docs further.
