It seems really important that whenever someone relays this kind of message that it's also explained how Trump pardoning anyone exponentially increases his personal risk. /1

A pardon automatically compels Manafort, Gates, Flynn, etc...to have to testify freely, completely, and openly with prosecutors about their knowledge; if they do not testify in that matter they actually risk being charged with new crimes.
-
While Trump has a powerful weapon on pardon wrapped around the throat of prosecutors, conversely they have a powerful weapon of compelled testimony wrapped around him. Trump's problem is that he can't pardon himself, pardoning anyone forces them to testify openly about him.
-
Knowing Trump's frail ego and lack of loyalty to anyone, he will never release someone to be able to testify against him with having a penalty attached. So, please have him pardon Manafort and let's see what happens...

No, you cannot get a presidential pardon for a state crime. According to the U.S. Constitution, pardon may be granted by the President only in case of federal criminal convictions, like the ones obtained in the District Courts of the US.
#FACTS -
That’s the thing that just makes me think that they all know this, Trump’s base doesn’t, so Manford et all look like rats to turn their backs on dear leader. That’s the only explanation I can come up with, saving orange face.
-
The prosecution knows this and is tying both state and federal charges so Manafort et al know they are trapped. With more charges held in reserve.
-
The only defense was a strategy to save face, and not counter the argument with facts. Yes, they all know the facts. Maniford, you are going to jail and they are using you to make Trump look good.

When Paul Manafort showed up in Court He knew that his team would fall short There would be no more bail He would wind up in jail With a pardon his one last resort...

I'm pretty comfortable with Paul Manafort sleeping soundly under the exonerating blanket of a presidential pardon every night of his life until he dies IN STATE PRISON.
