Hey , we met at UCB when I was in Cali and you were practicing your talk. I'm really sorry it's come to this, but I think you guys have done the right thing. And you're doing it awesomely. Hats off to you and I wish you the best!

It really demonstrates why all data and analyses need to be made available for every paper.

This is an important read about academic integrity. It is a must read for all, especially for students.

Yo - do you still have a bunch of Redbacks around your place that you could collect for me?

I'm leading a research project to look at gender equity in research grant programs. We'll be running a national trial to anonymise funding proposals to see if it reduces unconscious gender bias. Check out the video

They were totally engaged! But even more, they learnt some pretty high-level stuff about physics, chemistry and psychology. We were blown away by what they absorbed. Hopefully, it inspired some kids to take a greater interest in science ...

This is great! So important for young learners (future scientists or not!) to see the relationship between science and data, and to come to conclusions based these relationships. A new generation of marine biologists?!!

is finally at the stage I wanted it to be to be able to help all those kids out there. Head here if you want to bring the program to your school: . I'd love to work with folks interested in getting students really experiencing what science is like

That means we can start helping all those regional kids that never get access to a scientist and are lacking in science experiences at their school. This is going to be epic!

The most exciting thing is that we can scale this program to anywhere! We're currently creating an online version that can be delivered in real time to students anywhere in Australia!!

Two schools in the eastern suburbs are starting in term 2 and we're looking for more schools. There is also a research project tied to this!

We learned so much from this program. We're now making it a 2-day program (the kids were wrecked after 2 days of hard thinking) and are expanding it to after school programs (once a week for a term).

The students had a great time and I couldn't believe that we had to force them to go outside for breaks. While they were working in groups, it was great to see them helping each other. They were all on task and enjoyed the experiments and escape rooms.

The escape rooms explored content from the year 9 and 10 chemistry and physics syllabus. They killed it! Yes, you read that right - year 4-6 students created a periodic table, understood valences and electron positions, and even balanced reaction equations. It was amazing.

I realised that they don't often get to see figures explaining their own data. It really got them excited! But most importantly, it got them talking about data. I was impressed with how they could interpret what they saw.

The experiments ranged from exploring evolution to understanding how the human brain works. We used apps that automatically collected and visualised their data. They really enjoyed seeing the data they collected and were really interested in analysing the results.
