Not really looking forward to the new Apple File System in 2017, and the auto-update nagging to install it Right Now.

@mjtsai Presumably Apple gets the downside risks of widespread data loss. But, “software quality is fine,” and open office plan??? - View other replies

@notio It’s like all the cloud issues we complain about, magnified. That said, Apple does have a good history with FS upgrades. -
@mjtsai And clearly the engineers on the project get the scope of the problem. -
@notio Wonder what will happen if the engineers have concerns about readiness. Schedule seems aggressive given what they shipped in Sierra. -
@mjtsai All my issues with Apple these days reduce down to managing the annual upgrade cycle. Curious about incentives (bonus, etc). -
@notio The annual cycle could work better if they were less ambitious about adding features and/or cut stuff that wasn't ready. -
@mjtsai A “tick-tock” cycle of ambition then tuning would work better than the consumeristic “new features” playbook…

@mjtsai (Granted, the open office plan is a rumor.) -
@mjtsai I really hope so. Would like to see a year of optional installs. But the current trends / approaches… I dunno.
