Given that you pair headphones once per device, but listen to them all the time, perhaps sound quality should be your #1 consideration?

@dnanian Except that in practice something always goes wrong with Bluetooth so I have to pair and unpair rather frequently.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@mjtsai I’ve honestly never had to do that, over many years. Not once (except if I somehow cleared all pairings).0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@dnanian Lucky you I guess? Across multiple phones and headsets (different brands) I probably do it every few weeks.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@mjtsai Wow. Are you sure power cycling won’t “fix” it? Apple’s BT stack isn’t great.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@dnanian Powercycling the headset doesn’t always. Not sure about the phone; it’s faster to re-pair than to reboot.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@mjtsai Yeah, but the question is “where is the problem” - the stack/phone or the pairing. I think it’s the former - pairing is OK.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@dnanian Could be. In that case, let me rephrase as “reliability” rather than “pairing“ being the #1 consideration.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@mjtsai If the stack is broken, it’ll be broken for AirPods too. Yes, fixing stack would be good. But error is not inherent to BT pairing.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
@dnanian I think we’re on the same page. If anything, the automatic AirPods pairing may make that workaround less effective.
