Sigh, @thurrott et al that want TouchID on Macs *completely* miss the point of TouchID, which is to permit longer, stronger passcodes.
@rosyna Sure, but it’s still easier/faster than typing a long password.

@mjtsai To secure it, it needs hardware support (like TPM or something) and the reader MUST physically be near the motherboard, not on a kb. - View other replies

@rosyna Agreed. Certainly seems like something that could work on a MacBook or iMac. -
@mjtsai Of course, all the ways to secure it also involve features used with DRM. And users revolt if they even see a hint of hardware DRM.
