@mjtsai got to wonder if it's your router, it's config, or your ISP at a certain point.

@davemurdock I don’t think so, because the problem occurred both before and after we moved, with 3 different routers including new AirPort.

@mjtsai are you using not your ISP DNS? It's kind of baffling to have such persistent repeatable problems across so many releases.

@davemurdock Using regular ISP DNS. Very simple network with one router. Everything was fine until Apple TV software update last fall.

Laying on top of the AppleTV was the extension cord that powers the TV. The moment I moved the cord off ATV it could suddenly network again.
