      iTunes 12 is eating 1+ GB of memory. Seriously!? Isn’t a horrible search UX enough? Now you want to eat memory like you were Safari 7?

      @mmunz Yeah, it takes about 150 MB when I launch it and then gradually increases to GBs even if I'm not using it.

      @mjtsai, @mmunz — Why shouldn't an app aggressively cache stuff until your memory is "full"? Why is using otherwise inactive memory bad?

      @simX @mmunz Also, how do we know it's cache and not leaks? Right now, I have launchservicesd 1.13 GB, SystemUIServer 986 MB, etc. Normal?

          @mjtsai @simX That’s horrible for Macs that still come w/ 4GB. 12GB isn’t enough w/iTunes & Safari, can’t imagine 4GB.

          @mjtsai @simX Got 1 Safari window eating 1.8GB, a couple others eating 700MB ea, Kernel at 1GB, iTunes at 1GB. And performance still sucks.

          @mjtsai @simX Didn’t used to require restarting apps, restarting Mac daily to maintain performance. I could run for weeks.

          @mjtsai @simx @mmunz where are you getting the values from? Anything but "Private Memory"/rprvt is shared and may be disk cache.

          @rosyna @simX @mmunz Because 10.10 Activity Monitor doesn't remember to show the Private Memory column, always moves it back out of view.

          @mjtsai @simx @mmunz Strange, it remembers it here. But then I have Private Memory showing on the CPU tab, not the Memory tab.

          @mjtsai yeah, it does on my CPU tab. It always shows it now. I set it long ago and moved the column, so it might be an old pref.
