Any app that includes downloadable content that is not backed up should be able to restore itself to its former state after a restore.

An app that does this very nicely is
@OvercastFM. It saves episode download and played state to a server, but you can do it locally, too.0 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
@olebegemann@OvercastFM I haven't been brave enough to delete/restore. Does it auto re-download the available episodes that you had before?0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@mjtsai Yes, it does. It even restores the play position of partially played episodes.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@olebegemann Very interesting. So that would seem to imply that multiple iOS devices always have the same episodes downloaded?0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@mjtsai I think that’s the case. Having per-device state would certainly be possible, but there’s a lot of value in keeping it simple IMO.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
@olebegemann Yeah, I think that makes sense. A good tradeoff. It's just not at all obvious that that's how it works.
