I would very much like to know how Apple determines the _order_ of my various addresses in the “From:” popup menu in OS X’s Mail.
Michael Tsai@betalogue I think it's just alphabetical by account description and then, within the account, the order that you entered its addresses in.

@mjtsai Actually, it looks like it’s based on the order of the accounts in Mail’s preferences, which is definitely NOT alphabetical. -

@mjtsai Not alphabetical, only in the order entered for the addresses comma-separated in the Email Address field for each account. -
@betalogue Right. And the order in the left column is alphabetical within each account type (IMAP, Exchange, etc.) -
@mjtsai Not quite. I have an IMAP account that’s way down in the list. It’s just not an IMAP with iCloud or Google or AOL, which are top.
