@mjtsai Nothing else from backups? -
@dnanian Just that it was starting the backup. UI said it couldn’t create the backup folder, which is what it often says. Perms seem OK. -
@mjtsai Destination drive secure erased to try to remap sectors? -
@dnanian Just regular erase, but I did a full scan for bad blocks. -
@mjtsai Weird. Haven’t seen it myself. -
@dnanian This has happened to me with about 6 destination drives on at least 3 Macs. :( Anyway, I’ll just use other software going forward. - Show more

@mjtsai Just use a better backup solution, like@crashplan. TM has been unreliable since it shipped. (You can use them in tandem, too.) - View other replies

@marczak Yep, already using CrashPlan and Arq on my main Mac. I think I’ll have this other Mac CrashPlan to the main Mac. -
@mjtsai Oh, good. TM is nice, but so unreliable. -
@marczak I kept thinking it would be sufficient for this super simple case. Clearly a mistake.

@mjtsai So lame that destroying all your data on a Time Machine volume is necessary to “fix” problems.#FileARadarToBeIgnored
