@mjtsai Gave it one more thought: Did you mean actually deleting, or just moving to trash (has always been slow as it's involved copying)?

-
@lokiware I mean emptying the trash. -
@mjtsai I wonder what Mail might be doing instead. Probably some variation of this http://blog.fastmail.fm/2013/10/26/mac-os-10-9-infinity-times-your-spam/ … Do you have the new Mail.app seed? -
@lokiware No, this is with the 10.9 Mail. -
@mjtsai Will try the same tomorrow with the new seed. I hope they have foxed it!

@mjtsai Local or IMAP? IMAP operations have always taken forever in Mail.app for me. The slowness resulted in 15,000 duplicates once. -
@petermaurer About half were local. IMAP had always been slower but not that slow.
-

-
@mjtsai I suppose you archive them in EagleFiler. But curious why delete them from Mail? -
@mhenders Of course. Why not delete them? Mail really bogs down with large amounts of Mail, as do Spotlight and backups. -
@mjtsai I archive them in EagleFiler, too, but mainly as a backup in case Mail corrupts. I like them avail to search them in Mail, though.
