I propose that Twitter would be better if DMs were removed all together. More trouble than they're worth.

@danielpunkass I'm with@djlemur. I often use it to stealthily point out errors and typos w/o having to publicly embarrass people.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@uliwitness@djlemur I use them all the time, too. But they have fiddly usability behaviors that are nonetheless difficult to contend with.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@danielpunkass Well, you have to be followed by someone to send them a DM, yeah, but is there anything else fiddly about them? Not that bad.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@uliwitness And a side-effect of that change is that you can no longer include URLs in them.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@danielpunkass How does that follow as a side effect?0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@mjtsai I.e. banning URLs is a short-sighted attempt to limit attractiveness to spammers. Or so it has been speculated.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@danielpunkass I misunderstood. So you can DM anyone now, even if they don’t follow you? Aside from discretely reporting typos, sounds bad.0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -
@mjtsai You mean "discreetly", right? //@danielpunkass0 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
