@mjtsai Well, your first mistake is using Apple Events on 10.8...
Also seeing weird hangs in AESendMessage starting with OS X 10.8.2.

@grynspan Why is that a mistake? Known issues on 10.8? -
@mjtsai No, just more of a "if it isn't deprecated yet, it soon will be" thing. Apple is moving away from anything Carbon or Carbonesque. -
@grynspan AESendMessage is part of CoreServices and has no replacement API. I assume lots of non-deprecated stuff is built on it. - View other replies

@mjtsai I don't doubt its importance. It's just one of those things I think Apple doesn't devote much thought to anymore. -
@grynspan I’m afraid you’re right. -
@mjtsai Are you seeing the crashes when actively using Apple Events/Script, or are they in unrelated traces? -
@grynspan Not crashes, hangs. Yes, it’s when actively sending an Apple event. Rebooting seems to fix it. - Show more

@mjtsai I encountered that once too. Had to log out and back in to get it to stop. Haven’t had it since though. :-/ -
@bwebster Thanks. Restarting the Mac seemed to help one user’s AESendMessage problem. Haven’t heard back from others yet. - View other replies

@mjtsai Out of curiosity, is there a particular target app for your events, or does it seem to not matter what app is on the receiving end? -
@bwebster Currently, several customers are seeing this targeting SpamSieve from various apps. I haven’t reproduced it here yet.
