@mjtsai /etc/hosts gone?
I now have two customers whose Macs are reporting kCFURLErrorCannotFindHost when trying to connect to “localhost”; 127.0.0.1 works, however.

@soryu2 My guess is that /etc/hosts is gone or damaged, but these were non-technical users who wouldn’t have intentionally touched it. - View other replies

@mjtsai Are they running 10.8? -
@mjtsai Check that /etc still points to private/etc - I'm experiencing symbolic link corruption on 10.8. -
@stevenygard The /etc symlinks for these customers seem to be fine.

@mjtsai In that case, "localhost" may be resolving to the IPv6 address. Is that blocked or turned off on those machines?
