CrashPlan’s not going well. Refuses to upload faster than about 1 Mbps, and averages about 350 Kbps, on my 65 Mbit upstream.

@marcoarment I had lots of performance issues with CrashPlan - there are lots of settings you can tweak. But its still Java…

@peternlewis I don’t think it’s the Java. Their data center just seems to be slow.

@mjtsai could be, I've never done online backup (with an 80GB/month ISP bandwidth limit, it'd take a year to start).

@peternlewis CrashPlan does let you start by mailing them a hard drive. However, these days I prefer Arq: fast and low overhead.

@mjtsai I'm happy to backup onto harddisks and rotate them off-site, but sadly CrashPlan can't do that sensibly.
