@mjtsai The thing is, iOS is tied to new iPhones so iOS goes out near the street date, ready or not. That extends to macOS.

@McCloudStrife Yep. Among time, features, and quality, it’s clear which one always gets dropped.

@mjtsai What kind of issues are you seeing? I’m getting lots of strange behaviour when emoji’s are involved. -
@rafifyalda Crashes with text inspector bar, PDFs displaying with blank sections, PDF text selection not working, missing contextual menu. - View other replies

@mjtsai Looks like I solved it in my case. NSLayoutManager’s defaultLineHeightForFont: returned a different height for the same font…

@mjtsai Looks like PDFView had its internals rewritten. Renders pages on bg threads. Has many issues. Not a single word on release notes. -
@daniel_v There seems to have been a lot of PDF rewriting in 10.11, too. Still getting lots of crashes and weirdness in my app and Preview -
@mjtsai This seems a worse than 10.11. From the disassembly of PDFKit it looks like everything was changed. -
@mjtsai And what really annoying is that Apple didn't even bother to mention it anywhere.

@mjtsai PDFThumnailView was changed as well. It's not usable now. Again, not a word about it anywhere. -
@mjtsai Shipping software on a hardware schedule… -
@mjtsai No one uses PDF… …or Text. -
@mjtsai I think that’s a software engineering fundamental failure, and de-coupling iPhone hardware from iOS versions just a bit would help. -
@mjtsai Some features (upgraded iCloud notes last year for ex.) require that iOS and macOS update relatively close to each other. -
@mjtsai Alas, that’s what 10.12.1 is for. Or .2. (Or .5.) -
@mjtsai here's hoping for 10.12.xes
