    Here's what I currently know about the MASpocalypse. For some customers, only workaround is to use direct downloads. http://c-command.com/blog/2015/11/12/mac-app-store-versions-of-apps-not-launching/ …

        @mjtsai @lwdupont Early indications are that the steps in http://www.barebones.com/support/technotes/damagedapp.html … are safe and effective when used as directed.

        @siegel That’s a good summary of all the tricks I’ve seen so far, but I’m getting e-mails saying they tried all that and it didn’t work.

        @mjtsai @siegel Nothing has worked for Fetch. One theory is that linking against libcrypto.0.9.7 for receipt validation is a problem

        @fetchguy @siegel In fact, my apps are doing that.

        @mjtsai @fetchguy What symptom are you guys seeing? “App damaged” or are you getting the exit(173) dialog?

        @mjtsai @fetchguy That is very peculiar. <scratches head>

        @mjtsai @fetchguy It may be that we’ve just been lucky and will eventually run into an unsolvable case.

        @mjtsai Redownloading from the MAS “Purchased” worked for some of our users.

        @iljawascoding Same here, but there are definitely some for which redownloading doesn't work. :(

        @mjtsai the "damaged" screen seems to be a GateKeeper glitch (fixed by reboot). Then, some apps don't check expiring receipt certs; most do.

      2. Patrick Smith ‏@concreteniche 12 Nov 2015

        @rbrockerhoff @mjtsai So apps that check the certificate are better off or worse off?

      3. Rainer Brockerhoff ‏@rbrockerhoff 13 Nov 2015

        @concreteniche @mjtsai checking the certificates is always good. But if the back-end fails, not checking lets you run until that is fixed…

      @mjtsai people are saying rebooting fixes it without needing to redownload

      @mjtsai Thanks for the analysis. I was intrigued as it happened to a dozen apps I had installed yesterday.
