Senate Democrats gave Robert Bork a floor vote. He was voted down, with six Republicans voting no. Senate Democrats gave Clarence Thomas a floor vote. He was confirmed, with 11 Republicans voting aye. What destroyed "mutual respect" was Senate Republicans' Garland blockade.https://twitter.com/CraigCaplan/status/1319283149126291465 …

Were Senate Democrats too mean to Bork and Thomas? Who cares? What matters is that they were given a vote on the Senate floor; the people's representatives decided their fate. Senate Republicans abolished this principle by blockading Garland, throwing out the rulebook.

Ugh obviously I meant that 11 DEMOCRATS voted for Clarence Thomas!

Bork who, aside from his judicial philosophy, carried out the Saturday Night Massacre. But he still got a floor vote.

How do you feel about Miguel Estrada who was *literally* denied a vote because he was Hispanic? Or how about Henry Saad, Peter Kessler, and a number of others who were denied floor votes during Bush's tenure?https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/tag/donald-trump?source=%2Fopinion%2Fop-eds%2Fit-didnt-start-with-merrick-garland-trump-should-now-nominate-miguel-estrada-to-the-dc-circuit-court-of-appeals …

Time began only with events Mark is old enough to remember...the problem is one side views the court as “winner take all” super-legislature and the other side would like it to be - you know - a court

The slandering of Bork was disgusting, beyond the pale. Thomas, Estrada all obscene slanders to hold onto this illegitimate “legislative” power. Ginsburg, Kagan, Sotemeyor were not treated in kind. But the ‘R’s’ finally got tired of the bullshit Mark. Reap the whirlwind Schumer..pic.twitter.com/B6KQ4RUYku

"Did we call Justice Kavanaugh a drunken gang-rapist? What's the big deal? They're just words, man. That's all fine and good. But not wasting Garland's time (may he rest in peace) with a meaningless floor vote is too much!"

Bork also has genuinely terrible beliefs. So good(!) to him being voted down.
