Random question for a Friday afternoon. Who do you reckon are the best *investigative* science and/or health journalists out there? RT's welcomed if you're in the biz.

I think they do give a damn, for what it's worth—some more than others. But they're blundering because they've accidentally thrust themselves into a role they never wanted and weren't prepared for.

Joking aside, it’s hard to untangle what kind of process would lead to this happening, when a woman reporting dick pics faces demands for her photo id.

They take all claims as equal. To reiterate, no modern culture of ‘testable claim’. It’s down to two individuals from ‘opposing sides’ to debate it out. And if one ‘side’ has the stronger identity politics behind it, that’s the one the producers and editors end up in thrall to.

So you can’t just go ‘here’s an explanation of Diagnosis By Exclusion, here’s some studies showing chronic lyme isn’t real, here’s some material on critical thinking’ because none of that fills the identity gap. It takes everything away.

Hivemind: I urgently need to hire a UX-focused product designer, ideally (but not essentially) with experience in online news/media/journalism. It’s for an amazing project related to disinformation online. Please RT and spread the word!

Both of our biggest political parties each has a streak of toxic racism through it. No justification for ifs, buts or whatabouteries: neither party has any excuse not to tackle its own issues.
