I had to Google who Rosa Parks was (I didn't know who she was; a little important to this statement)... If people didn't know who Rosa Parks was IRL and a game had represented her fully, then I'd stick to it being a game, for that person, BUT, considering that she was in IRL... +

Once she was known to be in that position by, lets say, the video creator, then that's where I'd say that it would essentially be the same as lynching her IRL, and that's a bad thing imho.

i guess that’s the sticking point then. for me, the suffragette in RDR2 represents real people, even if she isn’t a specific figure from history. she represents an idea, which is what I think you were getting at. YT ban is not b/c shes a woman, its b/c of which woman she is

Well, if she represents real people, then every character in that game should as well. That is unfortunately something that can't really be done though. She also can't speak for people these days because her issues are very different. They are based around the time of the game.

There is also the part where, if she dies, the save file can be reloaded and she won't be anymore, which cannot be done IRL. Also, if a shootout happens between the player character and others, and she dies due to being in the crossfire... That scenario did not happen IRL...

the point isn’t that she gets killed in the video. If she got caught in a crossfire, that wouldn’t matter. The video creator felt that the npc should be tortured and fed to a crocodile specifically BECAUSE she was protesting for her right to vote.

Have you seen the voting IRL these days? Quite different than it was back then, so you already cannot compare the two. (As for historical accuracy, you can, but women can vote, so, it can't be that). As for why the video creator did it, I don't think that has been revealed.

Oh, and it appears Shirrako has his YT account back. Looking at the titles... Wow... This person goes the whole offensive way...https://www.youtube.com/user/Shirrako/videos …

He basically murdered in every gruesome way possible almost every NPC possible. So what? Probably many bored gamers killed the suffragist too. Its a NPC. Its not real. Its like torturing a Sim.

I feel bad enough about the Sim. Why must you torture me?

Because in play space, we explore our shadow, the part of us that isn't so prosocial, so it can be kept in check. Because if you want to punish crimes of play space, you are basically in 1984 territory, punishing thoughts. Because the mind wants to be free.
