also maybe get the facts before dismissing the @ACLU as an entire organization? they do good work.
-
-
-
yes, they might do some things that you disagree with. that doesn't mean the value of the other work they do should be thrown in the garbage
-
some will accept nothing less from politicians and organizations than strict, rigid, ideological alignment with their beliefs - that's naive
-
What to do if an organization does something egregious? The ACLU has done many good things, but their position on Citizens...
-
...United makes very little sense. An extremely damaging blow to our democracy. I'm unsure how to weigh this appropriately.
-
that's a really good point. I don't know.

if a person who attends a church asks the church for a platform to speaks and he begins to read the names of known
-
communists who attend the church and encourages other church goers to repot them to the fbi and the church steps in to
-
stop him from speaking anymore (even though everybody else has been allowed to speak) and he complains about his first
-
amendment rights to free speech, does the ACLU defend him because even we don't like his targeted his harassment, he
-
should still have the right to do it? Is it a free speech issue or a protection issue in the eyes of the ACLU?
-
Not sure. I feel like his right to speak should end when he doxxes and encourages harassment - but I'm not a lawyer.

this is precisely what M*lo has done. Outing trans people is violence. He has done it before & will do again.pic.twitter.com/y5kQqprTML
-
I wonder if people could get together & sue Milo? I agree that the doxxing and harassment isn't free speech.

This is all fair in the abstract. In relation to Mil0, however, wouldn't it fall under "conduct?"
-
He is known to single out specific students during his "presentations," harass them, out them, encourage others to do same
-
Like, I am all for the ACLU defending the 1st Amendment, but he doesn't just "speak." He hurts people directly.
-
I mean he, & the hate mobs he leads, have ruined actual lives...An actual friend of mine was driven to a breakdown by them
-
I understand that free speech is indivisible, but that man is not a good example of "speech we abhor but must defend..."
-
I know this from relatively direct experience...That whole section about "speech and conduct" is 100% about him.
