    George W. Albright was born enslaved in 1846 Mississippi, worked as a secret runner upon freedom, and served as a state senator for 4 years. In 1892 he and his white partener, Josephine Hardy, arrived in LA. They settled in East Hollywood where they homesteaded the land.
