My GDC submission got refused :( oh well, less work to do

Well, if *you* guys were *rejected*, just think how amazing all the other submissions must have been! It's gonna be the best GDC ever! Or it's just gonna have more sponsored sessions...
GDC lacks proper peer-review process. Board alone doesn't really have enough expertise to properly judge all the submissions. On all major conferences, program committee is there to find proper experts to do the reviews.

maybe I didn’t do the best job at writing the pitch, dunno, it’s no problem, presenting is a way to be nice but it’s a lot of unpaid work :)

Also apparently from what i heard from others,talks not explicitly linked to a shipped game were ignored, and mine was indeed not about that

I thought Mark Cerny reviews GDC talks for engineering, among others.

I think he does - and there are other smart people there too - but how many technical submissions they get? a hundred? and there are what - five? - strictly technical people on the advisory board.
