I was really hoping to find a locally supported functions that would produce a good reconstruction with only 3 coeffs (verts of tri)
Tried tons of different RBFs, tried dodecahedron with those RBFs, tried some wacky interpolation schemes (Wachspress) - wasnt happy with any

I have seen lots of thrashing about with Directional Gaussians but no exploration of the underlying Quadrature they are trying to represent.
