Cheh released the report to those in the room who wanted a copy. The full report contains attachments, which are not included in this release and will not be distributed to councilmembers until it's cleared by the general counsel.

In referring to the leaked report, Cheh says we're in an ironic situation where one councilmember acted unethically by releasing the report about a councilmember's unethical behavior.

Cheh says the report shows Evans' "casual attitude," though in her opinion Evans showed "arrogance and ethical blindness."

Cheh adds that the report exposes the "undue influence" of well connected lobbyists and law firms, and specifically points to a section in the report on the Pepco/Exelon merger. The section on Evans' maneuvers on that merger made her blood boil, Cheh says.

@ChmnMendelson is also here, and says he spoke with Evans about his potential resignation a couple months ago, but refuses to give more details.

Mendelson corrects his second-hand statement yesterday that the report contains "good news and bad news." "I think the report is damning. To me what was most disturbing is not one thing but several things, and when you think about it, there’s no good news in it."

Asked if he trusts Evans, Mendelson pauses. Cheh whispers that he doesn't have to answer if he doesn't want to. Mendelson then says Evans has obliterated the public's trust and the same goes for his colleagues.
